HOMER - The Banks County Commission could have good news for county employees when it meets at 11 a.m. today to discuss the 2014-2015 budget.

"It's been a smooth budget," said Commission Chairman Jimmy Hooper. "I can't go into detail, but maybe there might be something good come out for our employees."

Hooper said county officials have been running calculations to determine what might be possible.

"It's been a long time since we had something positive to say to our employees, but maybe if things go accordingly and we run our numbers and everything looks good, we might have a pleasant surprise for our employees ... so we're excited about that."
