Motorcyclist struck, killed in Blue Ridge over holiday weekend

BLUE RIDGE - The Georgia State Patrol has released more information about a fatal wreck in Blue Ridge over the holiday weekend.<br /> <br /> According to an email from the GSP, the accident happened around 1:15 p.m. Saturday on Highway 17.<br /> <br /> A 2002 Acura TL was attempting to turn left out of a gas station onto the highway, when the car was struck by a motorcycle heading north.<br /> <br /> The driver of the motorcycle, Jerry Paul Deplancke, 67, of Ellijay was ejected from the bike and died at the scene of the accident.<br /> <br /> The driver of the Acura, 26-year-old Jonah Bruce Matheson, from Hayesville, N.C., was charged with homicide by vehicle in the second degree and failure to yield while turning left.<br />
