GAINESVILLE, GA - Families lined the sidewalks on Green Street and E.E. Butler Parkway for the annual Memorial Day Parade in Gainesville.

All World War II veterans served as grand marshals, and Congressman Doug Collins served as honorary grand marshal.

A lot of the people sitting in their lawn chairs had a friend or relative in the parade.

"My favorite part is the candy," said one young girl sitting under a tree.

She got some from the Gainesville Fire Department.

"I like seeing my brother on the [little league] baseball float," said her sister.

Fans gave World War II veteran Cecil Boswell a standing ovation as he walked down the route.

The parade ran from First Baptist Church on Green Street and finished at the corner of Spring Street and E.E. Butler Parkway.

The 2014 parade was the 12th annual parade sponsored by the Paul E. Bolding American Legion Post 7.
