CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Georgia Department of Natural Resources officials say a teen has died after being tied to a shopping cart and pushed into Lake Allatoona.

Department spokeswoman Melissa Cummings says 18-year-old Chance Werner of Cartersville was playing a game with friends where participants sat in a shopping cart that was tied to a pole. Cummings says participants pushed the cart to the end of the dock and the person sitting in it would be flung into the water. Cummings says the cart was tied to Werner instead of a pole and pulled him under.

Cummings says Werner's body was found early Sunday morning in about 30 feet of water and he was still tied to the cart.

Cummings says Werner graduated from high school Saturday and the incident is under investigation.
