CUMMING - A Forsyth County toddler is expected to survive the injuries he received when he walked behind a vehicle and was run over.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office investigators said the 22-month-old boy walked out of the garage of the family home on Claude Martin Drive as his father was backing an SUV out of the driveway. The bumper of the vehicle hit the child and then the little boy was run over by back tire.

The parents of the child took him to a nearby fire station, where EMTs called an ambulance to fly the toddler to Atlanta. He was treated by a critical care team at Children's Health Care at Egleston.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m., according to a press statement from the sheriff's office.

Authorities say no charges are anticipated in the accident.
