Dawsonville's Bill Elliott and Fayetteville's Rex White will lead the class of 2015 into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Elliott was the 1988 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion, a two-time Daytona 500 winner and the first winner of the Winston Million in 1985.
Rex White was named one of NASCAR's 50 greatest drivers in 1998. He scored the 1960 Sprint Cup Championship. He picked up 28 wins in his career, the last coming in the 1962 Dixie 400 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Elliott and White join fellow Georgian Tim Flock as NASCAR Hall of Fame members. Flock was inducted last year.
All three are members of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA
Elliott and White will go in alongside Wendell Scott, who was the first African-American to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup race, with that win coming in Jacksonville, FL in 1963. Scott passed away in 1990.
Also being inducted is Joe Weatherly, who won back-to-back Sprint Cup Championships in 1962 and 1963. Weatherly lost his life in a 1964 crash at Riverside International Raceway in Riverside, CA. The fifth inductee will be Fred Lorenzen, a winner of 26 Sprint Cup races in his career, including wins in the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, and other marquee races for the famed Holman & Moody team out of Charlotte.
