Helen will be getting a $413,490 DWSRF (Drinking Water State Revolving Fund) low interest loan to finance development of a new ground water well on Chattahoochee Street, replacing an 8-inch water line across the Hamby Street Bridge with a 12-inch line, and extending a 4-inch water line to Carrie Cox Street.
The city will pay 0.66 percent interest on the 10-year loan. The total project cost is $413,490 with GEFA (Georgia Environmental Finance Authority) providing the entire amount.
The cities of Adel, Ashburn, Byromville, Byron, Cairo, Comer, Davisboro, Dudley, Griffin, and Sylvester, the Georgia Gateway Community Improvement District (CID), the Lamar County Regional Solid Waste Authority, Lowndes County, the Madison County Industrial Development and Building Authority, and the Sinclair Water Authority, were also included in financing totaling $62.7 million.
