Gainesville council gives final approval to Lanier Plaza rezoning

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville city council members Tuesday voted in favor of a controversial rezoning that includes Lanier Plaza Shopping Center on Thompson Bridge Road.

The vote moves the development of a grocery store for the property one step closer to reality. Several nearby property owners have been vocal opponents of the move.

Bob Hamrick cast the only no vote on second reading for the rezoning.
