"I'm feeling pretty good," the smiling incumbent governor said after casting his ballot. "We have had every indication that we have widespread support across the state, and that's always encouraging."
Deal faces a challenge in the GOP Primary from State Schools Superintendent John Barge and Dalton Mayor David Pennington.
Deal said the earlier Primary date may impact voter turnout.
"Hopefully we will have good turnout at the election today," Deal said. "It is two months earlier, so there probably will be some impact from the fact people are not accustomed to voting this early, but I appreciate the media making sure that people are aware that today is Election Day."
Deal took a moment to tout the state's accomplishments under his leadership.
"I think we have a great record that we have been able to put in place the first term, and I'm looking forward to carrying those policies and procedures forward," Deal said. "We're a state that's on the move, and I intend to keep us that way."
After casting his ballot, Deal left Clarkesville for the Memorial Day service at the Capitol.
