Gwinnett Co. Schools approves one-time salary adjustment for full-time employees

LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett County School Board unanimously approved a one time salary adjustment for full-time, benefited employees at their May 15th meeting.

The salary adjustment will be made in one lump sum on the educator's June paychecks. Depending on their daily rate of pay, employees will receive a minimum payment of $200 and maximum of $913.

"The Gwinnett County Board of Education and I wish to express our appreciation to our employees, who have felt the brunt of challenging budgets for the past five years," says CEO and Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks. "They have experienced 10 furlough days in recent years, rising insurance costs, and a particularly challenging winter, but they never lessened their commitment to our students. We want to thank them for going above and beyond, every day, to support student achievement. Our employees are the reason Gwinnett County Public Schools is successful."

In addition, because of its conservative approach to budgeting the district can fund the $9 million salary adjustment without decreasing the year-end fund balance that was budgeted to carry the district into the next fiscal year.
