Woman shot by Gainesville police enters guilty plea

GAINESVILLE - A woman who was shot by two Gainesville police officers last summer after she hit them with her car while fleeing a traffic stop has been ordered to prison for ten years after pleading guilty.

Tracey Marie Dean Seidel of Oakwood will be on probation for ten years after she completes her prison term, according to the sentence given her by Hall County Superior Court Judge Jason Deal Tuesday.

Court officials confirmed Wednesday that Seidel pleaded guilty to felony obstruction of an officer as part of a plea deal with the state.

The incident that led to the charges against Seidel occurred Aug. 20 following an early morning traffic stop at Skelton and Bowman roads on the west side of town. (See first link below.)

Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh announced a few weeks later that the officers' actions were justified and that his office would file no charges against them. (See second link below.)
