GAINESVILLE - Centennial Arts Academy in Gainesville has been selected as the winner of a $1,000 grant courtesy of the nationwide program "Kids Bowl Free."

Centennial was nominated for the grant by locally-based Funtastik! Family Entertainment Center/Gainesville Bowling Center, one of several bowling centers across the nation that participate in the program.

"Kids Bowl Free" is a program that allows children aged 15 and under to receive two free games of bowling, seven days a week, between April 15th and August 31st. Children can register for the program online, and are issued the free games by a local bowling center with ties to the program.

According to Debbie Lunsford-Love, manager of Funtastik!/Gainesville Bowl, bowling centers affiliated with the program nominate a school to receive an individual grant; Centennial was one of just 50 schools selected nationwide.

Lunsford-Love said the grant check will be presented to the principle of Centennial Arts Academy, Charlene Williams, during a ceremony next week.
