MT. AIRY - A three-vehicle wreck that shut down the southbound lanes of Georgia Highway 365 Tuesday morning resulted from a driver running a red light, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Trooper 1st Class Casey Coffee said 51-year-old Anjuman A. Khan of Clarkesville was cited for failure to obey traffic control device after he attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Georgia 365 in his 2001 Honda Accord.

Khan pulled into the path of a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 40-year-old Sandra Waldrup Calvin of Demorest, which struck his car in the driver's side, Coffee said.

The impact caused Khan's car to travel into the southbound lanes of Georgia 365, where it struck the front of a 2011 Subaru Outback driven by 43-year-old Mary Williams Smith of Toccoa with its front, Coffee said.

Khan suffered upper extremity injuries and was taken by ambulance to Habersham Medical Center, Coffee said.

Calvin complained of injury, but was not taken for treatment, Coffee said. Smith was not hurt.

Both Khan and Calvin said they had a green light. Witnesses said the light was green for both northbound and southbound lanes of Georgia 365, Coffee said.
