AUSTELL, Ga. (AP) -- Police west of Atlanta have opened a homicide investigation after a body was pulled from the Chattahoochee River near Six Flags Over Georgia.

Denell Boyd of the Cobb County Fire Department said a boater spotted the body near the riverbank behind the amusement park in the Austell area Monday afternoon.

Cobb County police on Friday identified the body as 34-year-old Perfecto Ochoa Alvarado, and described his death as a homicide.

Police said the exact cause of his death isn't being released due to the active investigation.
