YCC provides employment, job skills and educational opportunities through outdoor projects focused on managing natural and cultural resources on the national forest. Applications and resumes are being accepted until May 19.
YCC is a summer employment program for youth from all segments of society who are hired to work on projects on public land. It is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture - Forest Service, and the U. S. Department of Interior's Fish and Wildlife Service and National Park Service.
GYF is a non-profit organization based in Atlanta that specializes in "engaging diverse populations in green jobs and public land management" with a mission to "nurture enthusiastic and responsible environmental stewardship and healthy lifestyle choices among underserved disconnected children, youth and young adults."
Crew members will work June 2 through July 18 from the Blue Ridge Ranger District office in Blairsville.
The program is open to all 15 through 19 year-olds who are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. Applicants must be 15 years of age by the program start date and not over 19 years of age by program end.
