Mills named vice chairman of state parole board

ATLANTA (AP) -- James Mills of Gainesville has been elected vice chairman of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Mills, a former state representative, was appointed to the Parole Board by Gov. Nathan Deal in November 2011.

Another former state representative is the new chairman of the board. He is Terry Barnard of McIntosch County.

Barnard has served the past two years as vice chairman of the parole board. He was first appointed to the board by Gov. Sonny Perdue in May of 2010.
