White Co. man bitten by rabid fox

CLEVELAND - White County Environmental Health officials said a man human was bitten by rabid fox on Ramey Road earlier this week.

White County Environmental Health Manager Sean Sullivan said the victim, Lee McAllister, reported hearing an odd noise at his house on Tuesday. When he investigated, the fox attacked and bit him several times.

Sullivan said since this case involved a human he had the testing expedited. The results came back positive Wednesday afternoon from the Georgia Environmental Health office.

According to Sullivan, McAllister has already stated the series of treatments for rabies infection.

Sullivan said this is the fifth confirmed case of rabies in White County this year, the second for April.
