Except for Region 7-AAA, it was a rough night for area boys soccer teams in first round action Thursday.

Three of the four 7-AAA teams advanced to the second round. West Hall, with a 4-0 win over Cartersville, and Dawson County, a 5-0 winner over Ringgold, and North Hall, which took a thin 1-0 win over North Murray on the road, all managed wins in Class AAA. The Dawson County girls also defeated Ringgold 6-0 as the two teams played a doubleheader.

However, no other area teams managed to pull out a win in the first round.

Also in Class AAA, Buford lost to Coahulla Creek 3-2 and Jackson County fell to St. Pius 9-0.

In Class AA, Greater Atlanta Christian routed Union County 10-0, Lovett edged Jefferson 1-0, and Riverside Military Academy lost 7-0 to Westminster.

In Class A, Paideia held off Lakeview Academy 6-2.
