Soccer: Lumpkin County boys upset Chamblee, march on

CHAMBLEE -- The Lumpkin County boys soccer team pulled off a 2-1 playoff upset of Chamblee on Tuesday in the first round of the Class AAAA bracket in Chamblee.

The Indians (9-5-3) entered the postseason as a No. 4 seed but knocked off the No. 1 seeded Bulldogs.

Lumpkin County moves on to the Class AAAA second round, where they will travel to face the winner of the Southeast Whitfield vs. Columbus showdown on May 6.

-- NOTE: The two other area teams scheduled to compete on Tuesday -- the Johnson and Chestatee boys -- had their contests suspended due to impending inclement weather and will make up the contests on Saturday. The Knights will play at 6 p.m. vs, Marist in Oakwood. The War Eagles will play host to Stone Mountain at 7 p.m..
