A presentation of a timeline for the vote was given to county and municipal government representatives Monday night at a meeting in Braselton.
The vote is scheduled for Nov. 4, the date of this year's General Election.
The tax, which would be the continuation of the SPLOST VI, would be collected for five years and the revenue split among the cities and the county based on population with some revenue dedicated to potential joint City/County projects, according an analysis presented at the meeting.
That analysis further establishes a suggested timeline for a series of meetings over the next few months to formalize plans for the referendum.
It calls for two public input meetings in June with the county commission adopting a resolution on July 24 "approving SPLOST VII and instructing the Elections Superintendent to issue the call for the referendum." The tentative dates for the public input meetings are June 10 and June 19, according to county spokeswoman Katie Crumley.
If the referendum passes, a Citizen Oversight Committee would be appointed, comprised of representatives from the cities and the county.
The tax would be collected beginning July 1, 2015.
