Bicyclist hit by train in Flowery Branch area

FLOWERY BRANCH - Hall County emergency crews responded to a bicyclist hit by a train in the Flowery Branch area late Monday afternoon.

According to Hall County Deputy EMA Director Scott Cagle, the call came around 6:45 p.m. The incident happened on the tracks near Bell Drive off of McEver Road.

Cagle said the male bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment.

Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes identified the bicyclist as 23-year-old Evan M. Cashin. She said Tuesday morning he was reported in stable condition.

Bailes said it was a Norfolk Southern Train involved in the accident.
