GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Farmers Market opens Tuesday, May 6, with an adjustment in its hours this year.

According to its Website,, the market will be open Tuesday afternoons instead of mornings through the summer from 2:30-6:30. Saturday mornings, the market will be open from 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. unless everything is sold by noon.

Locally grown vegetables such as lettuce, radishes, onions, greens, along with eggs, honey, baked goods, and plants usually start the season. Beans, squash, peaches, cucumbers, corn and tomatoes are added as the summer warm weather crops start to come in. Late crops are field peas, butter beans, pumpkins, winter squash, sweet potatoes, and apples.

In addition, $20 worth of free produce will be given away every week June-September.

The farmers market is located just off I-985 near Rabbittown.

Meanwhile, the Clermont Farmers Market will open for the summer on Saturday, May 3. Market hours are 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Saturday through the month of August.

Market Director Kristi Crumpton said there are special events scheduled in conjunction with the market each week, including a quilting exhibit on May 10, EMS-Fire-Police Appreciation Day on May 17 and Military Appreciation Day on May 24.

Suwanee Farmers Market is also opening for the year on Saturday, May 3. Once again it will be held at Suwanee Town Center and will be open 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 4 and 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 5.
