KENNESAW, Ga. -- Police say a lockdown at Kennesaw State University in Georgia has been lifted after reports of a weapon in a man's pocket turned out to be a cellphone.

The university's police department received a call about a suspicious man with a possible weapon around 2 p.m. on Friday. The campus was put on lockdown while police searched for him.

When they located him around 3:30 p.m., police found the cellphone.

University spokeswoman Tammy DeMel says university and police officials took the initial call seriously and responded to keep the campus safe.

Located in the fast-growing suburbs north of Atlanta, Kennesaw State is the third-largest public university in the state and has more than 21,000 traditional and non-traditional students.
