Baseball: Dragons finish off perfect 8-AA season

LEXINGTON -- The Jefferson baseball team wrapped up a perfect 2014 Region 8-AA schedule Thursday with a doubleheader sweep of Oglethorpe County.

The Dragons took a 10-2 win in Game 1 and a 10-4 win in Game 2.

Micah Ford got the win in Game 1 allowing two runs on three hits while striking out 10 in five innings. Taylor Wilkes pitched the final two innings fanning four and giving up just one hit.

Christian Hutch, Jake Franklin, and Hanon Price each had two hits. Hutch finished with three RBI for Jefferson (21-3, 14-0 Region 8-AA).

In Game 2, Ethan Garner earned the win allowing just two hits and no earned runs in six innings.

Alex Gaba had two hits and four RBI to lead the Jefferson offense. Wilkes went 3-for-3 in the second game for the Dragons.

Jefferson will play to a Class AA first round series next week against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
