UNG announces speakers for spring commencement ceremonies

DAHLONEGA - The University of North Georgia (UNG) will hold four spring 2014 commencement ceremonies May 9-10, and the guest speakers include Brian Owens, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Corrections; Will Schofield, superintendent of Hall County Schools; Dr. Ben Mathes, president of Rivers of the World; and Vicki Davis, a founding member of Gainesville-based WomenSource.

Tickets are required to attend each ceremony. Students who have applied for spring graduation can pick up graduation packets, which include their designated number of tickets, beginning Monday, May 5 at the bookstore on their home campus. There will also be overflow areas for people who do not have tickets to view a live stream of the ceremonies. These will be in the Cleveland Ballroom of the Martha T. Nesbitt Building for the Gainesville Campus ceremony, and in the Special Collections Room on the third floor of the Library Technology Center for all Dahlonega Campus ceremonies.

The first ceremony will be on Friday, May 9 at 5 p.m. on UNG's Gainesville Campus, and will honor all graduates from UNG's Gainesville and Oconee campuses. Davis, who also is a trustee of the UNG Foundation, Inc.
