"Sweet Breads [fire] is still under investigation and we are waiting on results from the crime laboratory," said Glenn Allen, spokesman for Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens' office, regarding the Clarkesville fire.
No ruling has been made about that fire as of midday.
Businesses impacted by the Sweet Breads fire include:
* Sweet Breads Cafe, 129 E. Water St. - destroyed;
* Soque River Watershed Association, 1418 Washington St. - destroyed;
* Parker Place Antiques & Gifts, 1412 Washington St. - destroyed;
* Edward Jones Investments, 1416 Washington St. - destroyed;
* Natalie Jane's Tavern on the Square, 1424 Washington St. - heavily damaged; and
* Sharky's Sports Bar & Grill, 1406 Washington St. - damaged.
Another recent Habersham County fire - which was ruled arson - also remains under investigation.
That fire, reported at 6:46 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, destroyed the fellowship hall of Bible Landmark Church at 1808 Old Cleveland Road, Cornelia. The facility is located adjacent to Highway 365.
Hudgens is asking anyone with information about the church fire to call his Arson Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. Rewards of up to $10,000 are given for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an arsonist. Calls are taken 24 hours a day; callers may choose to remain anonymous.
The fire that destroyed the fellowship hall of Bible Landmark Church in Cornelia on Feb. 8 was ruled arson and remains under investigation.
