OAKWOOD - The president of the Gainesville Theatre Alliance (GTA) Theatre Wings has died.

Judy Lynne Dube, 61, was originally from Schenectady N.Y. but moved to a home on Lake Lanier in the Oakwood area when she retired in 2000.

Most recently, Dube was President of the Theatre WINGS at the Gainesville Theatre Alliance as well as serving as a trustee for the Theatre Wing Endowment Fund. According to the GTA Website, Theatre Wings is the community organization that organizes the contributions of many in the community who can offer their help or donation here and there to keep GTA strong and provide a sense of belonging to students in the program.

Along with her husband, she also hosted dinners for freshmen students and helped to feed cast and crew members after each production.

"Judy devoted countless hours as President of Theatre Wings. The students of GTA treasured her for her kindness, love and support," said Jim Hammond, GTA's Artistic Managing Director

As an active member of the Mended Hearts Program, she dedicated more than nine years and 2,300 volunteer hours offering hope and encouragement to heart patients and their families. Her dedication was recognized in June 2011 when she and her husband were awarded the Southern Region Visiting Chair of Excellence Award at the National Mended Hearts Convention.

She was also a member and secretary of the Medical Center Auxiliary Executive Board in Gainesville.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Service Dube at the Ed Cabell Theatre, Education and Performing Arts Building, located at The University of North Georgia's Gainesville campus Sunday, April 27 at 2:00.
