GAINESVILLE - The founder of the Georgia Manufacturing Expo (GME) plans a three-day fly-in tour to visit 12 manufacturing facilities in the state next week and Gainesville kicks off the tour.

The tour is designed to promote the upcoming Georgia Manufacturing Expo and to collect nominations for the first awards connected to the expo.

GME founder Jason Moss planned to begin the tour at Murray Plastics in Gainesville on Monday, complete at least 12 city stops in three days and arrive back in Gainesville Wednesday.

"It's a very aggressive schedule but I think we can pull it off," Moss said.

The inaugural GME awards will include four frontline leadership awards and one plant manager of the year award.

The winners will be announced June 13, the first day of the expo at the Gwinnett Center.

Next week's tour coincides with the wrap up of Manufacturing Appreciation Week.
