Haley King and Grace Brown scored the first point for Chestatee with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles before the Lady Indians won the No. 2 singles match, 6-4, 6-1, over Fernanda Arcaraz to tie the match.
Lumpkin County then took a 2-1 match lead, as Shay Brackett won 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 over Lady War Eagle Tyler Bennett at No. 3 singles. Chestatee again tied the match as Lily Kiang pulled an upset at No. 1 singles over Lady Indian Brittany Stewart 7-5, 0-6, 6-1.
With the score tied 2-2, both teams gathered to watch the finish of the No. 2 doubles match -- which was also tied a set apiece and 5-5 in the third. Lumpkin County's Kate Fitts and Claudia Head dug deep and won the final two games over Chestatee's Carolina Gijon and Melanie Smith to secure a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 victory.
The Lady War Eagles had a 30-minute turn-around before facing Madison County in the 3rd place match. Madison County prevailed 3-1 with the lone Chestatee victory coming at No. 1 doubles as Haley King and Grace Brown won 6-1, 6-1 improving to 15-0 on the season. The Lady War Eagles will face the champion from Region 6-AAAA on the road next week in the first round of the state tournament.
