DANIELSVILLE -- The Chestatee girls tennis team rallied back and forth with Lumpkin County in the semifinals of the Region 8-AAAA tennis tournament on Thursday before falling 3-2.

Haley King and Grace Brown scored the first point for Chestatee with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles before the Lady Indians won the No. 2 singles match, 6-4, 6-1, over Fernanda Arcaraz to tie the match.

Lumpkin County then took a 2-1 match lead, as Shay Brackett won 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 over Lady War Eagle Tyler Bennett at No. 3 singles. Chestatee again tied the match as Lily Kiang pulled an upset at No. 1 singles over Lady Indian Brittany Stewart 7-5, 0-6, 6-1.

With the score tied 2-2, both teams gathered to watch the finish of the No. 2 doubles match -- which was also tied a set apiece and 5-5 in the third. Lumpkin County's Kate Fitts and Claudia Head dug deep and won the final two games over Chestatee's Carolina Gijon and Melanie Smith to secure a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 victory.
