WOODSTOCK - The historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA opened its 46th season Saturday night with a full crowd and over 120 race cars in the pits for its Annual Spring Championships. It was a big night for Oxford AL's Jason Hiett score the Super Late Model Championship win in his first visit to Dixie.

Hiett grabbed the lead from pole sitter Todd Morrow in turn one and led the rest of the way to the checkerd flag. Thats not to say Hiett had an easy win as he held off defending track champion Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, GA for several laps as well as Morrow. With the final restart on lap 19, Morrow took over the second position for good leaving McIntosh fighting to hold off Tony Knowles, who made the pass for third with three laps remaining. Holding fifth place the entire night was Pat Doar of New Richmond, WI.

In other action, it looked to be Michael Page's night in the Limited Late Model feature until he lost power giving over the lead to Mike McConnell. McConnell went on to win holding off Joey Armistead. Randy Dillard followed home in third with Jason Smith and Michael Brewer completing the top five.

Justin Shipley drove a hard race, surviving a scrape with the wall to take the victory in the Crate Late Model feature. Mark Page made his way into second while Jacob Anderson fought his way home for third. Rounding out the top five were Hunter Jones and Doug Ludwig.

Michael Brewer jumped to a big lead in the Super Bomber race only to have to fight off Andy Morris in the closing laps. Randall Powell would come home in third trailed by Dale Fortner and John Dunn.

Corey Wright had the Economy Bomber feature well in hand until the final lap of the race when he was passed by Dan Meadows for the lead and spun out attempting to retake the top spot. Meadows went on to win followed by James Gagnon, Jamie Garner, Kenneth Burns, and David Burtz. Ted Montgomery gave the crowd a thrill when He got tangled up with several spinning cars and ended up on his roof. He was uninjured.

Travis Smith took the Pony Stock feature while everyone behind battled for the rest of the top five. When the checkered flag flew, Mitchell Pope was second followed by Ronnie Faucett, Jake Jones, and Christopher Etheridge.

Todd Lankster started dead last in the Cruiser feature and made his way to the front for his first feature win of 2014.

Dixie Speedway will return action Saturday May 3. Meanwhile, season opening action at Dixie's sister track, Rome Speedway, on April 19 has been postponed until the 26 due to heavy rain causing another section of the wall to wash out.
