CLERMONT - Authorities are on the lookout for a man who robbed the BB&T branch on Cleveland Highway at gunpoint Tuesday morning.

Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes said the suspect entered the business around 11 a.m.

"We had a white male about 5'7", slender build, wearing a red or rusty-colored long sleeved shirt enter into the business," said Bailes. "It looked like he had some sort of fishing hat on with a mask covering his face."

Bailes said the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money.

"The money was taken and placed into what looked like a lady's leopard tote bag," said Bailes.

She said once the suspect had the money, he left the bank and got into a small white passenger car, possibly a Nissan. Bailes said authorities believe the suspect acted alone.

The Georgia State Patrol is assisting the Hall County Sheriff's Office with the search for the suspect, according to Trooper Jonathan Munger with GSP Post 6. Munger said the GSP helicopter is involved in the search, as are patrol units.

Bailes said there were no customers in the bank at the time of the hold-up. The three employees at the bank were not hurt.
