GAINESVILLE - For the sixth time since Thursday, Hall County firefighters have battled fires, and four of those blazes have been deemed suspicious.

Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said the latest fire was reported at 1:20 a.m. Sunday. In that incident, fire crews arrived at the 3500 block of White Sulphur Road and found an 1,800 square foot house engulfed in flames. Cagle said the structure appeared to have been abandoned and there were no utilities connected to the house, so it will be investigated as a suspicious fire.

Saturday afternoon Hall County firefighters got some assistance from Georgia Forestry officials when a house, several vehicles and some woods caught fire on Patterson Lane.

Cagle said the occupant of the house reported the fire around 2:15 pm. He says no one was hurt.

At this point, it appears the fire started in the basement of the house, although a cause has not yet been confirmed.

Cagle estimated damage at at $150,000.

Other fires this past week occurred on Rain Tree Trace, Tulip Drive, Price Road and Glen Burtz Road.
