Baseball: Spartans knock of White County in 8 innings

CLEVELAND -- Brian Newman had two hits and two RBI to help lead West Hall to a 5-4 win over White County in eight innings Thursday on the road.

The victory gave the Spartans (14-5, 10-4 Region 7-AAA) a sweep of the two teams' home-and-home series. The Spartans now lead the Warriors (13-6, 8-6) by two games for third place in the region standings.

it was the sixth straight loss for White County.

Cam Warner got the win for West Hall.

Will Simmons and Lincoln Stubbs each had one hit and one RBI for the Spartans.

West Hall next will travel to Dawson County on Friday. White County will play host to Banks County on Friday.
