Braselton celebrates Georgia Cities Week

BRASELTON - Braselton joins cities throughout Georgia to celebrate "Georgia Cities Week 2014" and its theme, People Place Purpose.<br /> <br /> The town will host volunteers Saturday (April 12) for its fifth annual Rivers Alive cleanup along the Mulberry River, local streams and roadsides. Anyone interested may gather at 9:00 AM at the Braselton Community Room adjacent to Town Hall for supplies and assignments. Additional information is available at 706.654-3915 ext. 1012.<br /> <br /> On Tuesday, April 15, the town's Adopt-A-Stream program will be honored as Georgia's outstanding environmental initiative at Zoo Atlanta. Yvette Wise, the town's environmental specialist, will accept the award sponsored by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.<br /> <br /> Appointees to the town's agencies, authorities and commissions will be feted at a reception hosted by the Mayor and Council on Thursday at Chateau Elan.<br /> <br /> Commenting on the 'People Place Purpose' theme, town manager Jennifer Dees said, "A town is defined by its people, and we are so fortunate to have a large, diverse group of always willing and able volunteers to assist the town in creating Braselton as the best place to call home for our residents and businesses."
