"When we got pushed to the test there at the end we were able to separate and give us the cushion we needed to win," said North Hall coach Trent Mongero.
That ability to separate was founded on the Trojans performance at the plate, combining for a team total of 15 hits on the night against four different East Hall pitchers.
"The offense really got going fast and maintained until about the fourth inning," said coach Mongero
Early on it looked as though North Hall had things under control, capturing a 10-0 lead by the fourth inning.
The Trojans' offense was jumped started in the first inning when Micah Stickland (3 for 5 on the night, with a 3 run home run) crushed a deep fly ball to right field for a stand up triple, later scoring on an East Hall error. The Trojans would score two more runs in the inning courtesy of a Corbin Lewallen (2 for 4 on the night) RBI single, scoring Lincoln Hewett (2-5 on the night, 3 runs scored) who reached on the Vikings error and a double by Stephen Murray (2-5 on the night) would score Lewallen from second, the final run in the inning.
North Hall would tack on five runs in the second inning, three of which came from a towering three run home run from the bat of junior Micah Strickland - Taber Mongero and Andrew Smith (2 for 5 on the night, 1 single, 1 triple) would score on the Strickland bomb.
In the third inning the Trojans would reach double digits, with a 10-0 lead. In the inning, Smith would triple, later scoring on a McCoy Savage single, while Savage would steal his away around the bases, eventually scoring on a Hewett sacrifice fly.
The battle heated up in the fourth as the Vikings sparked their comeback, matching the Trojans with two runs in the inning. Jack Hagwood (4 for 5 on the night, 4 singles, 3 runs scored) singled to start the inning, scoring on the next play
