Baseball: Dawson County shocks No. 1 Buford

DAWSONVILLE -- Harley Pruitt knocked in Luke Martin with a single in the 10th inning to propel Dawson County to a 3-2 win over Buford Wednesday in Region 7-AAA action.

It was the first loss of the season for the Wolves (17-1, 13-1 Region 7-AAA) and snapped a three-game losing streak for the Tigers (11-8, 6-8).

Colton Chester had a big game for Dawson County belting a pair of solo home runs.

Buford led 1-0 after the second inning but Dawson County tied the game in the fourth with the first of Chester's home runs and the score stayed that way until the ninth.

Buford took a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth on a RBI hit by Nick Wilhite. The Tigers would come right back tying the game at 2-2 on Chester's second blast.

J.T. Eggert got the win in relief for Dawson County going the final three innings allowing just one run. Logan Burt started for the Tigers and fanned 13 while yielding just one run in seven innings.

Jake Higinbotham started for the Wolves and went seven innings.
