Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes said the family of Thomas E. Funk Jr. of Gainesville has raised the reward leading to an arrest or recovery to $10,000.
"Our trail has gone cold, essentially," said Bailes. "We don't have any direction to take this case in anymore, other than to pose this missing person bolo once again."
Bailes said the family hopes Funk is still alive, and that they have a reason to think so.
"There's not anything necessarily that leads us in [the] direction that foul play is involved in this case, but of course, he has been gone for three years," Bailes said.
Funk was last seen on the evening of October 1, 2011 by his roommate. When his roommate awoke the next day, Funk was gone, but his cell phone and vehicle were left behind.
Funk is a white male with brown hair and blue eyes, about 6 feet tall and 155 pounds. He was 47 years old and suffering an accidental foot injury at the time of his disappearance.
