CUMMING - Forsyth County authorities are currently investigating a bank robbery that happened Wednesday morning on Buford Highway at Trammel Road.

No one was injured in the hold-up at Chase Bank, which was reported at 11:19 a.m., according to Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Rainwater.

"A white male in the drive-thru window passed her [the teller] a note that he demanded money," said Rainwater. "He also put in the note that in the stack of papers that he gave her also was an explosive device."

Rainwater said the teller did as she was told and then alerted authorities. The bank was evacuated as a precaution, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to detonate the so-called explosive device.

Rainwater said the device turned out to be harmless.

"They actually detonated the device in the parking lot, and it was structured to look like a bomb but it wasn't."

Rainwater said the FBI also came to the scene, and agents are investigating the possibility that the hold-up is tied to others in the Gwinnett County area.

The vehicle being driven by the suspect is described as a black 4-door 2012 or 2013 Hyundai Genesis.
