They are appealing a superior court denial of their petition to force a hearing of their case by the Forsyth County Civil Service Board.
It was in February 2013 that Lt. Lisa Frady Selke, four captains, and four other lieutenants employed by the sheriff's office were terminated as part of a reduction in force, according to the Sheriff s Office. They claim, however, their firings were a subterfuge for political retaliation and age discrimination.
The officers attorneys argue the trial court erred by denying their petition.
The attorneys for the county argue the state Supreme Court should dismiss this appeal because the officers improperly filed a direct appeal when they were required under the law to ask permission to appeal under the discretionary appeal procedures.
