Soccer: Foote kicks Chestatee past Gilmer

GAINESVILLE -- Sadie Foote scored three second half goals to help Chestatee take a 6-0 win over Gilmer Tuesday.

Merrie Barnett scored twice in the first half for the Lady War Eagles (9-5-9). Barnett got her first goal on a penalty kick with 17:54 remaining in the first half. She notched her second goal with a 30-yard blast to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Foote then got going in the second half. She got her first goal off a pass from Hope Baxter in the 16th minute for a 3-0 lead. Two minutes later, Foote set up Taylor Buffington for a goal and Foote would make it a hat trick scoring two more goals later in the second half.

Buffington assisted on the final goal of the game.

Misandy Chavez recorded the shutout in goal. The Chestate defense, behind Jordan Pruitt, Jacelin Sanchez, Anna Abercrombie and Bailey Hooper only allowed three shots on goal for the game.
