Baseball: Dragons jump on Riverside early, hold on for 7-3 win

GAINESVILLE -- The Jefferson baseball team pushed past Riverside Military Academy 7-3 on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Micah Carpenter earned the win on the mound for the Dragons (14-3, 8-0 Region 8-AA), while Jake Franklin produced a save. Carpenter allowed just three hits and struck out nine in 5 innings work.

Jefferson jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings on RBI from Alex Gaba, Carpenter and Andy Nicolaus. Nicolaus finished with two doubles and two RBI, while Christian Hutch also drove in a run. Meanwhile, Jake Franklin and Hanon Price also had two hits apiece.

The Dragons will play host to Washington-Wilkes for a double header beginning at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
