DAWSONVILLE -- The Dawson County baseball team has found its groove in region play.

The Tigers won their third and fourth straight region contests on Monday, sweeping Fannin County in a doubleheader in Dawsonville, 5-4 and 15-2.

Dawson County (10-5, 5-5 Region 7-AAA) got the third thanks in large part to a clutch pitching performance from Logan Burt, who tossed a seven-inning no-hitter -- in relief. Coming on in the first inning, Burt went on to strike out 16 Rebel batters and walk two in the win.

Offensively, Levi Whitmire proved the hero, connecting on the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh to claim the 5-4 victory. Whitmire finished with two hits. J.T. Eggert also had a home run in fifth inning.

There were few such struggles in game two, as Burt and Eggert again combined to drive the Tigers.

Burt launched two home runs and racked up five RBI, while Eggert blasted a three-run home run in the five-inning win.

Dawson County will play host to East Hall on Wednesday.
