Simpsonwood is a 227-acre site in the Peachtree Corners area that has been a meeting place for church groups and a sanctuary for visitors.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/1jIrYgh ) that the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church can't afford the upkeep, so it's looking to sell it.
Norcross school teacher Ludie Simpson, who died in 1975, had deeded the land to the church conference.
Church officials say they also hope to maintain the area essentially as natural park land. They say some claims being made by neighbors are without merit.
Neighbors hoping to keep the site as green space plan to meet Tuesday to discuss their next steps.
