TOCCOA - A Stephens County jailer was arrested today on aggravated child molestation charges.

According to GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang, a victim came forward to Toccoa Police alleging 57 year old Bobby Byargeon had molested them for over a year.

The Toccoa man was arrested following the investigation and a search of his residence. "Byargeon's residence was searched for evidence related to the allegations," said Lang. "The GBI obtained ten arrest warrants for Byargeon as a result of the investigation, which was a cooperative effort with the Toccoa Police Department and the Stephens County Sheriff's Office."

Byargeon had been working as a jailer in Stephens County for seven months. He is currently being held in the Rabun County jail. "Typically with law enforcement officers, whenever they're arrested they're not held in the county or the jurisdiction where they worked," explained Lang.

Lang said no information about the victim, including the victim's gender, will be released.
