According to an email from Fire Chief David Kimbrell, the fire is contained to the 10 acre island and was half-way involved when crews arrived. There are no exposures and wind is not factor in the fire.
Kimbrell said in the email that the plan was to let the fire burn itself out. The county does not have fire extinguishing capabilities on the lake.
The closest access road to the fire is Twin Rivers Drive off of Browns Bridge Road.
The cause is unknown and will be investigated.
