GAINESVILLE - One person was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Monday night after receiving second-degree burns in a car fire.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said it happened about 9:45 on Arbor Drive in the Sardis area.

The victim was "burned over six percent of their body, second-dgree burns (and) was transported non-emergency to Northeast Georgia," Kimbrell said.

Meanwhile, Tuesday morning, Gainesville fire units were sent to Lennox Park Apartments off Athens Highway.

"Upon arrival, units found food left on the stove that was smoking," said Keith Smith, a spokesman for the department. "There was no actual fire."
