GAINESVILLE -- Even a uniquely different scoring system could not deter the Gainesville Red Elephants from seizing yet another tournament title on Monday at Chattahoochee Golf Club, where the Red Elephants captured their second straight Big Red Shootout crown and the program's fifth consecutive tournament title this year.

Senior Grant Lasseter led the way for the Red Elephants in what was an imposing team effort carding an impressive round of 41. To go along with Lasseter's low round score, teammates Lawson King (39), Spencer Ralston (38) and Jackson Bishop (37) all contributed impressive scores - totaling a team round of 155.

Lovett provided the closest challenger, finishing second with a 147.

Lasseter netted the third highest score of the evening and attributed the competition among his teammates as one of the main factors to his and the team's success.

"I really enjoy competing against my own teammates and I really think that is why this year's team is having so much success," Lasseter said.

It is that very competition among teammates that coach Bryson Worley hopes will propel the Red Elephants through Wednesday's competition at the Champions Invitational at Ansley at Settindown.

"These guys are going to have to push each other to the brink like they did today come Wednesday," Worley said. "Today proved that the competition among the teammates is justified and with this team you truly never know who will be low man but you can be assured all the scores will be good."

Come Wednesday the Red Elephants will take to one of the toughest courses in the state and will need to be at their absolute best among a field of elite teams.

Right now though, the Red Elephants will enjoy their second straight Big Red Shootout crown - rest up and prepare for the remainder of what they hope is another historic season.
Gainesville's Grant Lasseter led the Red Elephants with a (modified Stableford scoring system) 41.
