Buffington went 3-4 and scored two runs, ripping a triple in the third inning and a single in the fourth inning. Buffington also baffled Fannin County's bats, striking out three batters, while allowing just one earned run, five hits and no walks over four innings.
Everything was working at the plate for the the East Hall Vikings in the fourth, as the Vikings scored nine runs.
East Hall stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring two runs on an error and an RBI single by Cole Smith.
Mathew Gee closed out the fifth and final inning on the mound during an emotional afternoon, as the East Hall family dedicated its concession stand to his mother the late Twylita Gee, who lost her fight with cancer this past summer. The Vikings honored the Gee family in a pre-game ceremony, revealing the new signage for the newly named concession stand. Horace Gee, Matthew's father, threw out the first pitch in honor of his late wife, whose dedication and passion for the East Hall community was shown for many years volunteering for numerous Viking activities.
