Banks County deputy's home destroyed by fire

GILLSVILLE - A Banks County deputy sheriff and his family lost their home and possessions in a fire Thursday afternoon.

The fire was paged just after 4 p.m. at the home of Deputy Lee Parson on Hickory Flat Road in Gillsville.

Parson's family includes himself, his wife and three children, ages 9, 15 and 17.

An account for the Parson family will be designated at Regions Bank in Homer for monetary donations.

Clothing, toiletries and other donations for the family are being accepted at the Banks County Sheriff's Office, 160 Windmill Farm Road, Homer.
