DAWSONVILLE - Dawson County firefighters Thursday afternoon responded to an apparent house explosion.

The explosion happened around 12:20 p.m. on Wildwood Court.

"There was quite a bit of fire involved, and because of the hazardous constructional damage to the residence it was a total loss," said Dawson County EMS Chief Lanier Swafford.

Fox Five aerial footage showed the house in ruins with flames showing. A neighbor reported the incident to first responders.

Swafford confirmed that units remain on the scene of the incident. He said there are no injuries and an investigation is underway.

"We're confident an explosion did occur," said Swafford. "Neighbors reported hearing and feeling the explosion near the residence. And it's very early, we've still got units on the scene...we're trying to find out much more specifics before we elaborate."

This story will be updated.
